Basketball Recap: Calhoun Falls Charter Skates Past Ware Shoals with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calhoun Falls Charter). They breezed by the Ware Shoals Hornets to the tune of 69-37 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blue Flashes also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Calhoun Falls Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Autumn Thomas led the charge by putting up 32 points and four steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least a third of Calhoun Falls Charter's points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Sanders, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Calhoun Falls Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Ware Shoals saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Stella Eichhorn dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 boards. Eichhorn is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Crockett, who posted eight points.

Calhoun Falls Charter's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Ware Shoals, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Calhoun Falls Charter is taking a road trip to square off against Greenwood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ware Shoals, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
