Baseball Recap: Soquel Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Soquel won against Scotts Valley on Friday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Knights beat the Aptos Mariners by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Mariners recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Dylan Hull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Soquel's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Whelan, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Gabe Virgallito was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Soquel's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Aptos, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Soquel has already played their next game, a 10-2 victory against Harbor on the 13th. As for Aptos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-2 defeat against Santa Cruz on the 13th.
