Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Callie Craven and Cora Sparrow Lead Eastern Randolph to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwestern Randolph, Eastern Randolph was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 45-32 win over the Jordan-Matthews Jets. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Jets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Eastern Randolph was led to victory by Cora Sparrow and Callie Craven. Sparrow went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Craven posted 13 points along with six boards and six steals. Sparrow is becoming a predictor of Eastern Randolph's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 2-14 when she doesn't). Raegan Beaver was another key player, putting up five points and four steals.

Despite the loss, Jordan-Matthews still got an impressive performance from Kelsey Morris, who earned 18 points. Those 18 points gave Morris a new career-high.

Eastern Randolph's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Jordan-Matthews, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Eastern Randolph wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-23 defeat against Uwharrie Charter Academy on the 7th. As for Jordan-Matthews, they will welcome Seaforth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
