Football Recap: Cleveland Skates Past South Garner with Ease

Cleveland had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the South Garner Titans 55-3. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Kaleb Ferrell had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 113 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Jaden Tibbs was another key player, gaining 38 total yards and two touchdowns.

Cleveland didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Garner to a completion percentage of just 18.8%. The team can thank Porter Bennett for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Cleveland; they were averaging 63%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 63%.

Cleveland's defense didn't let Chase Hardy, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. Diondre Haynes was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 17 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why South Garner lost, don't look at Alijah Clarke. Despite the final result, he rushed for 154 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Clarke showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards.

Cleveland pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points on average over those games. As for South Garner, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Cleveland will host Southeast Raleigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Garner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
