Baseball Recap: Granger Comes Up Short

Granger extended their losing streak to 17 on Monday, dropping them down to 3-20. They came up short against the Cyprus Pirates, falling 18-3. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Granger saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Hooper, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Cyprus, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Cyprus' side, ALEX LARSON looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. LARSON has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cyprus let BRODY DENSLEY and RENE HIDALGO run wild. DENSLEY went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while HIDALGO went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of REINER HIDALGO, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Granger had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
