Football Game Preview: Weaver Beavers vs. Valley Regional/Old Lyme Warriors

The Weaver Beavers will head out on the road to take on the Valley Regional/Old Lyme Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Weaver will be strutting in after a victory while Valley Regional/Old Lyme will be coming in after a loss.

Weaver's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Morgan/Old Saybrook/Westbrook, posting a 42-0 win. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Beavers this season.

Weaver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kadain Claflin-Coy, who threw for 345 yards and five TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards. Jaiden Booth was Claflin-Coy's top target, picking up 120 receiving yards and three scores.

Weaver didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jyiere Perry and Booth.

Meanwhile, Valley Regional/Old Lyme played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 42-21 to Cromwell/Portland. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Weaver now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Valley Regional/Old Lyme, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Weaver was taken down by Valley Regional/Old Lyme 36-6 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Beavers, Giovanni Winters (who threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
