Volleyball Recap: South El Monte's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

South El Monte had lost seven straight headed into Wednesday's game, but Lexis Jacobo didn't let it get to eight. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the El Monte Lions on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2 with plenty of help from Jacobo, who had 39 digs. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

South El Monte took El Monte into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 15-11.

South El Monte's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 7-12. As for El Monte, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, South El Monte will challenge Rosemead at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for El Monte, they will take on Marshall at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
