Baseball Recap: Watervliet Wins Going Away Against Coloma

Watervliet won the last time they faced Coloma and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 9-2 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Caleb Jewell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Watervliet let Jacob Querfurth and Emmett Williams run wild. Querfurth got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Williams went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three stolen bases gave Querfurth a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Ryan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Watervliet's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Coloma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Watervliet will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
