Baseball Recap: Perry Central Takes a Loss

Perry Central and Wesson squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Perry Central had to settle for second. They lost 6-0 to the Cobras. The shutout was out of character for the Bulldogs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Perry Central got a good showing from Masyn Nobles, who struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Nobles is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 8-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Perry Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayson Backstrom, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Perry Central now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Wesson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-7-1.

Perry Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wesson, they will head out on the road to face off against Puckett at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
