Baseball Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

The Clinton Maroons came up short against the Eureka Hornets on Saturday and fell 7-4. The Maroons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Colton Walker put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clinton is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. Walker was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Jaxon Reynolds made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Josh Bass was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Eureka, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will square off against MacArthur at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eureka, they will face off against Roanoke-Benson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
