Football Recap: Peyton Yandall and Demichael Burks Pace Desert Pines Defense

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Desert Pines can now relate to. They fell just short of the Green Valley Gators by a score of 23-21 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-18 on October 3rd.

Desert Pines didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Peyton Yandall and DeMichael Burks. Yandall is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.

Sonny Uranich had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 145 yards and one TD for Green Valley.

Desert Pines has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Green Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Desert Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Green Valley, they will look to defend their home field on the 7th against Centennial at 6:00 p.m.
