Baseball Game Preview: Ridgeview Panthers vs. Baker County Wildcats

The Ridgeview Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Baker County Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ridgeview is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Ridgeview's offense. They came up short against Clay on Tuesday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Baker County). They skirted past Santa Fe 14-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 13th.

Kaiden Burnsed and Evan Cannon did most of the damage at the plate: Burnsed scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cannon went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Baker County is undefeated when Burnsed posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise.

Ridgeview's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Baker County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-14.

Ridgeview couldn't quite get it done against Baker County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
