Baseball Recap: South Summit Wildcats vs. Morgan Trojans
South Summit extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They lost 8-2 to the Morgan Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-5 on Tuesday.
South Summit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Mair, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Morgan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Morgan's side, Camron Talbot made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Talbot was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Summit will face off against Union at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Morgan, they will square off against Bear River at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
