Soccer Game Preview: Valencia vs. Godinez Fundamental

The Valencia Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Valencia is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Mater Dei, who was ranked second at the time (Valencia was ranked 19th). Valencia lost 4-0 to Mater Dei two weeks ago. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Godinez Fundamental was forced to settle for a draw last Saturday. They and Los Alamitos finished up their game with a 1-1 draw.

Godinez Fundamental's goal came courtesy of Dominic Resendiz, who's now up to four this season.

Valencia's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. Godinez Fundamental's draw makes their record 8-2-3 this season.

Valencia skirted past Godinez Fundamental 1-0 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valencia since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
