Preview: Westampton Tech Panthers vs. Medford Tech Jaguars
The Westampton Tech Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Medford Tech Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Westampton Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Westampton Tech's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Burlington Township 77-45. Westampton Tech has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Westampton Tech had strong showings from Shakur Anderson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, and Dante Horace, who scored eight points. Anderson is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Medford Tech on the road against Williamstown on Saturday as the team secured a 99-46 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Medford Tech.
Tre Powell went supernova for Medford Tech, scoring 35 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Tyler Branson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Westampton Tech now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Medford Tech, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Westampton Tech have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Medford Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Westampton Tech strolled past Medford Tech in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 73-55. Will Westampton Tech repeat their success, or does Medford Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
