Softball Recap: Edgewood Crusaders vs. Portage Warriors
There's no place like home for Edgewood, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 win over the Portage Warriors on Friday. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
For Portage's part, Sophia Brom made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. Alana Brandsma was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Portage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That's the best batting average they've managed all season.
The victory got Edgewood back to even at 1-1. As for Portage, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
