Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Wildcats vs. Winterset Huskies

The Carlisle Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Winterset Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Carlisle's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Ballard with a sharp 16-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Ten must be Winterset's lucky number: they beat Knoxville with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Panthers. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Carlisle pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Winterset, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Carlisle came out on top in a nail-biter against Winterset in their previous meeting back in July of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
