Baseball Game Preview: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Franklinton Red Rams

The Wake Forest Cougars will challenge the Franklinton Red Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wake Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.8 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Wake Forest got the win against Franklinton by a conclusive 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Trevor Friend looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Antonio Parrino was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Hunter Kisse was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Wake Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklinton only posted an OBP of .250.

The win made it two in a row for Wake Forest and bumps their season record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 25.5 runs over those games. As for Franklinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wake Forest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Franklinton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts.
