Basketball Game Preview: Nixon Mustangs vs. United Longhorns + Official Tickets

The Nixon Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the United Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nixon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.1 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Nixon beat Palmview 42-33.

Dante Escobar produced another solid performance going 6-for-9 to rack up 16 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was AJ Palacios, who posted eight points.

Nixon was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmview only racked up six.

Meanwhile, United was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Cornerstone Christian 65-34. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 744th, while the Warriors are ranked 195th).

Nixon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for United, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Nixon strolled past United in their previous meeting back in November by a score of 74-56. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
