Nipomo extended their home winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Nick Evans. The Titans took down the Morro Bay Pirates 49-34 on Friday for which the team can thank Evans, who rushed for 245 yards and three touchdowns. He has become a key player for Nipomo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise.

Griffin Groshart was another key player, throwing for 203 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 passes. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made four total tackles.

Nipomo's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Sands Dougherty five times. Morro Bay's QB won't forget Joseph Huitron anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Despite the loss, Morro Bay still got an impressive performance from Dougherty, who threw for 352 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 79 yards and one score. Dougherty has been hot recently, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. A healthy portion of Dougherty's aerial production (119 yards to be exact) went to Anthony Campanario, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Nipomo's record now sits at 6-4. As for Morro Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Nipomo and Morro Bay are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Titans will challenge Atascadero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Evans and Damon Mitchell. As for Morro Bay, they will take on Delano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.78 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
