Volleyball Recap: Polk County Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home + How To Watch

Polk County was the 3-2 winner over Asheville Christian Academy when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolverines took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Wednesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-8, 11-25, 25-16.

Despite the defeat, Polk County had strong showings from Aslyn Scruggs, who had nine digs and two aces, and Akeela Cunningham, who had 11 digs, eight kills, and two aces. Cunningham is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Polk County's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polk County will take on Owen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give the Wolverines their first taste of in-conference action this season. After both having extra time off, Asheville Christian Academy and Enka will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
