Baseball Recap: Skyview Comes Up Short

Skyview was the 8-6 winner over Gateway when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolverines fell just short of the Olympians by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isaiah Rodriguez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Skyview's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Gateway, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Skyview has already played their next contest, a 14-6 victory against Aurora Central on the 10th. As for Gateway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-8 win against Adams City on the 10th.
