Hoover barely beat Monte Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Hoover blew past Monte Vista 23-13 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cardinals needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

The team relied heavily on Yazmyne Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Heather Perez, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Monte Vista, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Hoover will square off against Sweetwater at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sweetwater will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Hoover surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monte Vista, they will challenge Mount Miguel at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
