Softball Recap: Atherton's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Atherton dropped their record down to 5-13 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 25-5 to the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 19-5 defeat back in March.

Izzy Cummins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Crissy Reese was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

On Pleasure Ridge Park's side, the team relied heavily on Save Strange, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Strange a new career-high. Reese McGohon also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Atherton has already played their next contest (against Highlands Latin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-9 victory against DuPont Manual on the 6th.
