Baseball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. Mishawaka Marian Knights

Elkhart is 0-7 against Mishawaka Marian since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Elkhart's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Mishawaka Marian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Elkhart didn't have quite enough to beat Glenn and fell 5-4.

Max Shreiner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mishawaka Marian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Logansport. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Knights have suffered since April 24th.

Cade Briones was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those three hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

Elkhart's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Mishawaka Marian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Elkhart might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Mishawaka Marian when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
