Basketball Recap: Amplus Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Salematou Kaba and Vanesa Rozniece

On Thursday, the Amplus Academy Archers came up short against the Chaparral Cowboys and fell 33-25. The Archers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Amplus Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Vanesa Rozniece and Salematou Kaba. Rozniece dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Kaba posted two points in addition to 11 boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Rozniece a new career-high in points.

Chaparral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zamariyah Walker, who had ten points along with eight boards and seven steals. Walker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. London Bunn - Abreau also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Amplus Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Chaparral, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16.

Amplus Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chaparral, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-2 defeat against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 7th.
