Baseball Recap: Claymont Gets the Win

Claymont took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against West Muskingum, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Tornadoes 5-3. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 12-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Claymont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Fair, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Fair is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jackson Jinks was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Claymont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for West Muskingum, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Claymont will host Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. West Muskingum has already played their next match (against Philo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
