Softball Recap: Rutland Takes a Loss

Rutland couldn't beat Jackson on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Hurricanes came up short against the Red Devils, falling 23-7. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Addison Payne was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brielle Howell, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs.

Rutland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Jackson, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Rutland will square off against Marion County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hurricanes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
