Baseball Recap: Milwaukee Lutheran Comes Up Short

Milwaukee Lutheran had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-13-2 to make it seven. They came up short against the St. Francis Mariners, falling 19-1. If the Red Knights were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Mariners when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for St. Francis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For St. Francis' part, Zach Perry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Perry has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Xolot, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Liddell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Milwaukee Lutheran will be playing in front of their home fans against Martin Luther at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Francis, they will head out to challenge Heritage Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
