Softball Recap: St. Mary Catholic Has No Trouble Against Hilbert

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary Catholic). They put the hurt on the Hilbert Wolves with a sharp 11-1 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Zephyrs.

Gabrielle Guerrero spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emily Vogel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emily Weiss, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

St. Mary Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Looking ahead, St. Mary Catholic will welcome St. Mary's Springs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Ledgers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Zephyrs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hilbert, they will host Tri-County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
