Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends St. Helena's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Helena can now relate to. They fell just short of the Windsor Jaguars by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Saints' defeat signaled the end of their 16-game winning streak.

Tahlia Smith put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, Emily Glakeler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Journey Penterman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

St. Helena's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Windsor, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

St. Helena does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Windsor, they will face off against James Logan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
