Basketball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Warriors vs. Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars

Covenant Christian and Greenwood Christian Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Covenant Christian Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Covenant Christian has three straight wins, Greenwood Christian Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Covenant Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 68-62 victory over Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on Saturday.

Covenant Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Crane, who posted 14 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Crane a new career-high in blocks (two). Isaac Crane was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Greenwood Christian Academy came up short against Indianapolis Lutheran on Saturday and fell 44-31. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Covenant Christian pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Covenant Christian came up short against Greenwood Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 48-38. Can Covenant Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
