Basketball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Byers Bulldogs

The Lyons Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Byers Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Lyons escaped with a win against Loveland Classical by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38. The win made it back-to-back victories for Lyons.

Lyons' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Vasquez led the charge by putting up seven points and 20 rebounds. That's the most points Vasquez has posted since back in December of 2023. Leora Hagan was another key player, posting ten points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Byers strolled past Bennett with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 47-33.

Lyons pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Byers, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
