Softball Recap: Auburndale Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

With a playoff win on the line, Auburndale rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Crivitz Wolverines as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Morgan Griesbach made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danika Blomberg, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Lily Bellanti was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Auburndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crivitz only posted an OBP of .368.

The victory was the third in a row for Auburndale, bringing their record up to 21-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Crivitz, they moved to 23-6 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Auburndale will take on Pacelli at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Crivitz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
