Preview: Central Valley Hawks vs. Golden Valley Cougars

Central Valley is 0-8 against Golden Valley since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Central Valley Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Golden Valley Cougars at 7:15 p.m. Central Valley is hoping to put an end to an 18-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Central Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 73-60 victory over Buhach Colony. The victory was just what Central Valley needed coming off of a 68-36 defeat in their prior match.

Central Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryan Rodriguez led the charge by scoring nine points along with 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rodriguez pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Robbie Singh, who scored 17 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Golden Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of El Capitan by a score of 66-63. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Golden Valley in their matchups with El Capitan: they've now lost eight in a row.

Central Valley's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Golden Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

Central Valley might still be hurting after the 70-46 defeat they got from Golden Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Central Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
