Football Recap: Banneker Trojans vs. Morrow Mustangs
Banneker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell to the Morrow Mustangs 36-32.
Despite the loss, Banneker still got an impressive performance from Kelian Allen, who rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards and a touchdown. Allen really tore up the turf during one magnificent 98-yard run. Keyuntae Herndon was another key player, throwing for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
Even though they lost, Banneker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in ten consecutive matches.
Banneker wouldn't let Morrow keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jeremiah Daniels, Quentin Hand, and Demarion Headspeth picked up one apiece.
Khi Mitchell was nothing short of spectacular for Morrow: he rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 146 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Michael Simms, who rushed for 146 yards while picking up 9.1 yards per carry.
Banneker's record now sits at 2-8. As for Morrow, their record is now 3-6.
Banneker does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Morrow has already played their next contest, a 12-6 defeat against Lovejoy on the 8th.
