Basketball Recap: De Beque Takes a Loss

If De Beque was riding high fresh off their 56-36 takedown of Hayden last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The De Beque Dragons took a hard 61-46 fall against the Plateau Valley Cowboys on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled against the Cowboys recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, De Beque still got an impressive performance from Burke Largent, who posted 27 points. That was a full 58.7% of De Beque's points, marking the fourth time in a row Largent has earned more than a third of the team's points. Jace Graham was another key player, putting up six points and 15 boards.

Jack Vig continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Plateau Valley, dropping a double-double with 34 points and ten rebounds. Vig is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 54% in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colter Ralston, who put up nine points and three steals.

De Beque's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Plateau Valley, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

De Beque wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-35 win against Vail Christian on the 20th. As for Plateau Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nucla at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Plateau Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
