Sacramento Valley league recap: 3/13/13

Hamilton had a successful week, as it won three total games to lead the league. The Braves beat Las Plumas 7-4 and Corning 6-2.

This could be a critical week for Willows, which holds a 0.5-game lead over Durham for Sacramento Valley's top spot in the standings.

The Honkers' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing five hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories.

Esparto scored 32 runs this week to lead the league, but Willows is tops in runs scored this year, with 40.

The Honkers' Kyle Wycoff was locked in this week, and led the league with a .600 average (3-for-5) over that span. His average for the season stands at .500, which ranks third in the league. Wycoff has five hits total this season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Kyle Enos, who turned in nine Ks for Willows. With 11 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.

Jake Voorhees struck out eight in Pierce's 8-1 win over the Spartans on March 8. He gave up two hits and one run over four innings of work.
