Baseball Preview: Lehigh Lightning vs. Gateway Eagles
The Lehigh Lightning are taking a road trip to take on the Gateway Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lehigh has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Lehigh lost 12-2 to Lely on Friday. The Lightning have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Gateway unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Cape Coral by a score of 6-5.
Otniel Diaz was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Diaz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Antony Leiderman, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Sean Collins, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Lehigh, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
