Recap: Alameda Pirates vs. Pomona Panthers

The Alameda Pirates suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Pomona, falling 50-22. Alameda has struggled against Pomona recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Alameda still got an impressive performance from Lupita Solis, who scored 12 points along with two steals.

Kendra Ritzmann was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds for Pomona. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ritzmann has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Valenzuela, who scored eight points along with five steals and three blocks.

Alameda's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.8 points per game. As for Pomona, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Alameda will be playing in front of their home fans against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Evergreen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pomona, they will head out on the road to challenge Standley Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Standley Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
