Preview: Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers vs. Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds
Melbourne Central Catholic has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Melbourne Central Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Melbourne Central Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-42 to Morningside Academy.
Despite the loss, Melbourne Central Catholic got a solid performance out of Hayden Deane, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Lane, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Park Academy came up short against Jensen Beach on Wednesday and fell 58-45. While losing is never fun, Lincoln Park Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 666th, while Jensen Beach is ranked 303rd).
Melbourne Central Catholic's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3. Lincoln Park Academy's record is now 1-11.
Melbourne Central Catholic was taken down by Lincoln Park Academy 58-30 in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Can Melbourne Central Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
