Softball Game Preview: Heidelberg Oilers vs. Leake County Gators

After both having extra time off, the Heidelberg Oilers and the Leake County Gators will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Heidelberg and 18 for Leake County dating back to last season.

Heidelberg lost 24-10 to Perry Central last Thursday.

Zhyria Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mariyah Farrell, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Even though they lost, Heidelberg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Leake County came up short against Louisville last Thursday, falling 24-4.

Leake County's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Heidelberg, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-4.
