Basketball Recap: Cascade Comes Up Short

Cascade came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Stanwood Spartans by a score of 61-59 on Tuesday. The Bruins have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Stanwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jett Brager, who posted 15 points. Brager continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Greyson Pierce, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Cascade's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Stanwood, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.

Cascade will host Arlington at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Arlington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Cascade likes a good challenge. As for Stanwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-41 win against Snohomish on the 9th.
