St. Anne-Pacelli gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Newnan Cougars. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won five games in a row dating back to last season.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-89) St. Anne-Pacelli actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 12-25, 12-25, 15-13.

St. Anne-Pacelli found their leader in sophomore Allie Vickery, who had seven digs and two aces.

Despite the loss, Newnan had strong showings from Sarah Frank, who had 18 digs and three assists, and Mia West, who had six digs and two aces.

St. Anne-Pacelli has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Pike County on the 7th. As for Newnan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Heard County on the 7th.
