Baseball Recap: Lejeune Comes Up Short

Lejeune had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it 12. They lost 10-4 to the Northside - Pinetown Panthers. If the Devil Pups were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lejeune saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Keller, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Northside - Pinetown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

On Northside - Pinetown's side, Reed Clinkscales and Chase Hewitt did most of the damage at the plate: Clinkscales went 3-for-4 with one run and one double, while Hewitt went 2-for-4 with three runs. Those three runs gave Hewitt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Willard, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

While Lejeune had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
