Baseball Recap: Bingham Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Corner Canyon

Bingham faced Corner Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Miners fell 12-9 to the Chargers. Even though they lost, the Miners' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Jared Orullian was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Beck, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

With the defeat, Bingham broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-5. As for Corner Canyon, their record is now 12-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bingham will take on Mountain Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Miners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sentinels have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Corner Canyon, they will challenge Riverton at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Silverwolves will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
