Basketball Recap: Bellville Beats La Grange for Their Third Straight Win

Bellville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 56-41 win over the La Grange Leopards. This was a revenge game for the Brahmas: when they faced off against the Leopards back in January, they had to take a 68-41 loss.

Despite the loss, La Grange still got an impressive performance from Brandon Mathis, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven blocks. Mathis is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Oliver Gunn, who posted nine points and five boards.

Bellville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for La Grange, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-9.

Coming up, Bellville will head out on the road to challenge Fayetteville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. La Grange does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
