Softball Recap: Synergy Magnet K12 Comes Up Short

Synergy Magnet K12 had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it eight. They came up short against the Vero Beach Indians, falling 18-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Tuesday.

As for Vero Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.

For Vero Beach's part, Lathan Willis made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Willis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lissette Ascencio, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haley Brown, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Synergy Magnet K12 does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vero Beach, they will take on Treasure Coast at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
