Basketball Recap: Las Animas Starts Season with Victory at Home

Las Animas took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They really took it to the Aguilar Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-12 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-2.

Las Animas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kree Wallace, who shot 50% from the field en route to 10 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Wallace a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Aaron Vargas, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 14 points and three steals.

Las Animas was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aguilar only posted two.

Las Animas has already played their next matchup, a 53-24 victory against Arickaree on the 6th. As for Aguilar, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-43 defeat against Manzanola on the 6th.
