Football Recap: Akins Takes a Loss

Akins extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-4. They had to suffer through a 55-12 loss at the hands of the Bowie Bulldogs. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

As for Bowie, they now have a winning record of 5-4. Considering they have won four games by more than 23 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Rhys Moreno and Julius Silva. Moreno gained 192 total yards and two touchdowns while Silva rushed for 116 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Silva a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Akins will take on Lake Travis at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st. The Cavaliers' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bowie, they will face off against Austin at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
